Well, OK, Cerama-Shield© isn’t really paint…it’s better than paint but looks exactly the same. No one would suspect it’s any different unless they were suspicious as to why your home doesn’t starting peeling and looking tatty like theirs.
Cerama-Shield’s industry leading 15 year warranty against peeling, cracking, chipping, and flaking includes labor…so if this product fails we fix it free. You pay nothing, nada, zip.
How can we do this? Actually two reasons:
- Cerama-Shield© has been engineered to eliminate the main reasons for paint failure, U/V light and Moisture. C-S is always applied with our proprietary titanium primer and two full coats. Each coat is 3-4 times thicker than regular paint (5-6 mils dry) and contains tiny ceramic micro-spheres that repel U/V light and keep the coating from becoming brittle. The coating itself can expand 150% with 100% memory (which means it returns to exactly the same size after it’s stretched). This allows C-S to expand with the house in the heat of summer without cracking…so no moisture gets through.
- Secondly, we seal ALL cracks and transitions with our 50 year caulk to ensure that there is chance for moisture to penetrate. Our goal is to apply a barrier against moisture intrusion on all areas of your home.
Cerama-Shield is the ideal product to maintain the original natural look of your home whether it be clapboard, shake, stucco, cement, or brick. We can even revitalize aluminum and vinyl siding. And we can coat foundations as easily as the body or trim of a home.
The next question folks ask is “How much does it cost”? Well, every project is different in terms of the preparation necessary, but aside from that, the actual cost of coating is generally 50-60% higher than a reputable painter would likely charge for using a top quality regular exterior paint. Don’t forget we’re applying 3-4 times more material than regular paint and it should last 3-4 times longer as well. Most people tell us that we are a little less expensive than the cheapest grade of vinyl coating and we also cover more areas that aren’t usually included in a vinyl siding job such as front entrance ways, garage casings, foundations, porticos, columns, balconies, window bays, etc. When we’re done, a house is usually 100% low maintenance not 80-90%. We are often called upon to “finish off” many homes originally built with vinyl siding but are looking run down after just a few years because the wood areas (and they’re usually mostly in the front of the house where it’s there for everyone to see!) are starting to crack and peel.
